Here at Simply Warmer, we love to encourage people to try and save themselves some money with our energy saving tips. As it’s the New Year, we wanted to do a round up of some of our best tips that could help save you money in 2017.
So here goes:
LED light bulbs
LED light bulbs are an absolute must for ensuring your house is running efficiently. LED light bulbs are 10x more efficient than your average light bulb… Yes, they cost a little more, but it will be worth the switch in the long run.
Draught proofing your house is SO important, especially in an older house. You may find draughts coming through the windows, doors and even your chimney. Fully draught proofing your house can cost around £250 however could save you lots more in the long run.
Having a smart meter installed is a great way for you to keep track of what you’re spending on both gas and electricity every day. The smart meter sends your energy company a meter reading so you don’t have to. It’s also free to install!
Turn off the lights
This might seem like an obvious one, but turn your lights off to save you money on your bills. No brainer for 2017!
Only fill the kettle with as much water as you need
Unless you plan to drink a cuppa from a bucket, only fill the kettle with as much water as you need for the amount of tea or coffee you’re making. This will mean your kettle is on for less time, using less energy.
Turn off appliances
Another obvious one, but a very important one! Avoid keeping your TV on standby, phone chargers plugged in etc. They use electricity even when you think they’re off.
